Dear wedding guest,

Welcome to Susy and Will's wedding page (or at least what Will could design and get up in a hurry!). We hope you will join us in Wyoming in July for our wedding! Here is useful information on things to do (activities) in Jackson, Wyoming and along with other information on common questions. We will be putting up additional materials up shortly (around 04/18/07) such as maps for the towns and area.

Best wishes and hope to see you there!

Will & Susy

Hotel Lodging

We recommend wedding guests stay in Teton Village, home of the many hotels that service the Jackson Hole ski resort. Teton Village has the best range of hotels in the valley, with options ranging from the pricey Four Seasons Resort to the economical Inn at Jackson Hole (a Best Western). The Bride’s family will be staying at the Snake River Lodge & Spa. The Groom’s family will be staying at the Teton Mountain Lodge. For those of you who are on a very tight budget, there are also smaller hotel options available in the town of Jackson, 15 minutes away. Please note that July is prime wildflower month in Wyoming, so unless you are a member of the wedding party and we have already spoken to you, try to book your hotel as soon as possible.

Hotel Discounts
We have obtained wedding discounts at the following hotels. Mention our wedding party name when making your reservation. Discounts are subject to availability, but if you experience difficulty getting a discount, please let us know. If you prefer to stay elsewhere there are several other hotels in Teton Village and elsewhere nearby.

Small Children

We welcome couples with small children to bring them to the wedding. Babysitters will be on hand for the afternoon ceremony and following reception on Saturday, all of which will occur in the same outdoor field location with tent. For planning purposes, please let our wedding planner Kathi Michel of Special Events Jackson Hole (Tel: 307-734-1658, Email: Kathi@specialeventsjacksonhole.com) know how many children you will be bringing. Kathi can also help coordinate with a local baby gear rental company, “Babies on The Go,” to provide things such as cribs, Pack N’ Plays, and highchairs. Some hotels may also be able to provide baby products. For less stress, we recommend that you bring your own child car seats if you have them.
If you need a babysitter for additional times during your stay, Kathi can help you find one. Given the small size of Jackson’s community, we recommend such plans be made several weeks in advance of arrival.

Transportation

While we will have a small shuttle van or two available for the night of the rehearsal dinner and the wedding, we recommend that you rent a car for your visit. Most hotels will have shuttles to/from the airport, and there is public transportation available in the Jackson valley, but the rural nature of the area is best explored by private car. Most major rental car companies can be found at the Jackson Hole airport.

As a small side note, please be aware that much of the driving in the Jackson area is "open range," meaning there is always the possibility for an unexpected encounter with large animals such as moose, elk, and bison. Also, speed limits between Teton Village and the Town of Jackson are heavily enforced.

Activities

There are many things to do in Jackson and the surrounding valley. We will be scheduling a few group excursions for the Thursday and Friday prior to the wedding on Saturday, but for those who would like to stay longer and/or pursue further options, here is a list of things you can do. If you wish help in booking an activity or need additional information, please feel free to contact our wedding planner Kathi Michel of Special Events Jackson Hole (307)-734-1658. Please note that July is prime wildflower month in Wyoming, so a few of the venues may fill up quickly. Book as soon as possible.
In addition, there are also many small shops and art galleries in the town of Jackson, plus the National Museum of Wildlife Art (where we will be having the rehearsal dinner), and many places to walk, hike or drive within view of the dramatic scenery of the Grand Teton mountains.

Guests will be picked up at their hotel and transported to the beginning point on the Snake River. These trips are a great opportunity to experience the river in a more intimate way than ordinary float trips are able to provide. Unlike the large inflatable rafts that hold larger groups of people, the handmade, shallow, small, draft wooden boats allow guests to get out of the main river and explore its many side channels. The tours focus on wildlife, flora and the majestic scenery of the valley’s riparian habitat. Trips can be customized according to the group’s interests and may include photography, bird watching and/or wildlife viewing. The inflatable kayak (or Rubber Duckie) is a unique and exciting way of going down the river for your group, with no previous experience necessary. Duckies combine the maneuverability of a kayak and the stability and safety of a raft, providing complete control of your boat. The best part of the duckie is the low ride in the water that it provides. Small waves seem large and big waves seem mammoth! Experienced instructors will take your group through a thorough equipment check and river safety course and instruction on the fine art of paddling a duckie. Instruction is provided and the guides will lead your group safely down the class III/IV rapids of the Snake River. If you’re not ready for the over, under and upside down that a kayak provides, but want more excitement than a river raft, take the rubber duckie tour for the ride of your life!
